Meet Our Team

Jay Rowley – Community Sport Manager

Although his main focus is ensuring the successful day to day management of the centre; from staffing to budgeting, health and safety to programming, Jay’s main role involves the development of new and continuous high quality initiatives offered at the centre, with the aim of creating opportunities for all members of the community to participate in sport and leisure activities.

Jay also leads on the partnership work with our cluster primary schools; providing the best support, facilities and opportunities to ensure the young people of Ryedale experience high quality PE and sport throughout their school life, extra curricular activities and beyond.

Andrew Massey – Community Sport Supervisor

Andy currently leads the Malton Soccer Sixes league, heading the management of both the league administration and refereeing.

Andy has a strong background in coaching a variety of sports and activities and plays a vital part in the organisation and delivery of our 2 hour offer of free, high quality PE to our partner primary schools.

Since September 2012 Andy has worked very closely with Alison to develop his knowledge and experience in the field of health and fitness. After completing a Gym Instructor Level 3 course, Andy has progressed to now organise, plan and deliver several fitness classes within our busy programme.

Matthew Hood – Community Sport Supervisor

Matty has a strong background in football, including playing, coaching and managing. Currently heading the development work with Brooklyn Football Club, Matty’s passion for and knowledge of the game is first rate and has helped the club achieve FA Charter Standard Community Club level; one of only 500 clubs in the country to achieve this status.

Matty also leads on our Mini Kickers Soccer School, which engages over 60 children aged 3-7 years each week.

 Alison Hyde – Community Sport Administrator

Alison’s main role is to undertake the general administration of the centre, from bookings to banking, invoicing to ordering.

However, Alison is also our lead health and fitness professional. With 15 years of experience as a class instructor and personal trainer, not to mention numerous marathons, fitness weekends and the odd iron man thrown in, Alison really is a great inspiration and assistance to those looking to get into shape or push themselves that little bit further.

Stephanie Young – Community Sport Assistant

Having progressed from an initial apprenticeship placement to become a full time member of the team, Steph has continued to grow and is now responsible for a number of key initiatives.

Within our weekly timetable Steph leads the Indoor Netball League and the Junior Tennis Coaching Club, as well as playing a major role in the Primary School Sport programme.

From January 2016 Steph will head up our This Girl Can project, which is being run in Partnership with North Yorkshire Sport. This project includes a running club, mountain biking, indoor climbing, a weekly fitness class and a series of sports specific coaching sessions, and is aimed just at women.

Shannon Beal – Apprentice Community Sports Assistant

Shannon is with us on a 12 month apprenticeship placement (Oct 15 – Sept 16) and has settled into the team really well.

As an active footballer, Shannon has a passion for coaching and plays an important role within our Primary School Sport programme. Shannon is also involved with our Walking Football project and will be undertaking the FA Level 1 and Module 1 courses over the next couple of months.

Alex Croall – Apprentice Community Sports Assistant

Alex is with us on a 12 month apprenticeship placement (Oct 15 – Sept 16) and has done really well in his first three months in post.

Alex is active within the Primary School Sport project and plays a supporting role to Andy with the Soccer Sixes League. The Holiday Activity Scheme is another programme that Alex will be heavily involved in over the next year, along with undertaking his FA Level 1 and Module 1 awards.

Alex is also a dab hand with a sweeping brush and a kettle.
